What you'll be doing on the job
- Commission in-coming, simple biomedical equipment to verify safety and performance against manufacturer's specification, including interpreting engineering information, schematic diagrams, and instructions in the operators' manuals and service manuals.
- Start an equipment record (Equipment Master) in the computerized biomedical equipment management system (BEMS), recording in it information about the device as well as the inspection and test results.
- Affix the "Commissioning" tag on the equipment after it has been successfully commissioned, and file the manufacturer's operator and service manuals.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) (inspection, servicing and performance verification) on simple biomedical equipment; document the work done and update the Equipment History and the PM schedule in BEMS.
- Troubleshoot and correct simple system and equipment malfunctions by making adjustments, alterations, repairs, or parts replacements to ensure that the equipment meets specification.
- Make requisitions for replacement parts and accessories needed to complete repair jobs.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with equipment users, vendors, and ancillary staff of the Hospital, as needed to facilitate the above duties to be performed.
